Edgecombe is one of North Carolina's oldest counties. During the antebellum era, it was one of the state's most influential counties.
The text is divided into three chronological sections: 1732-1789, 1790-1865, and 1865 to the present. In each section, the author discusses two broad topics within that period: politics and lifestyles.
This is an excellent introduction to an important participant in North Carolina history.
Thirty-eight black-and-white illustrations enhance the text.
