"Memory" is the subject of this second of four posters commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in North Carolina (2011-2015).

Each of the photographs reproduced on the poster depicts a past commemoration of the war:

  • "Unity Monument at Bennett Place" (Durham, 1923)
  • "North Carolina Monument at Gettysburg Battlefield" (Gettysburg, 1929)
  • "Confederate Monument at the State Capitol" (Raleigh, 1895)
  • "Confederate Veterans' Wives at Courthouse" (Waynesville, 1910)

Note that the red "North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources" security banner does not appear on the poster.

The third poster in this series honors Freedom and will be issued in 2013.

The fourth poster in this series honors Sacrifice and will be issued in 2015.
