Under the Black Flag, by noted coastal artist Jack Saylor, is an allegorical painting of artifacts from the shipwreck believed to be Blackbeard's flagship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. Given unprecedented access to the wreck artifacts, Mr. Saylor created a work of art that commemorates the lives and experiences of Blackbeard and his pirate crew.

In this striking painting, the ship's bell is surrounded by cannonballs, a brass sector, a pewter charger, an encrusted pewter plate, two black glass bottles, and ballast stones. In the background are a cannon and Blackbeard's "black flag" that bears a skeleton and bleeding heart.

Mr. Saylor assigned all reproduction right to Under the Black Flag to the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources to benefit the ongoing archaeological examination of the wreck site off the coast of Beaufort.

The Flagship Edition of the colorful reproduction of Under the Black Flag is distinguished from the standard edition by the fact that Mr. Saylor has sketched the Queen Anne's Revenge on the lower border of the print. Like the Standard Edition, the Flagship Edition is signed by the artist and includes a full-size protective folder with a detailed item-by-item description of the artifacts.(t)

Only fifteen copies of the Flagship Edition of Under the Black Flag remain in inventory.

After these copies are sold the Flagship Edition will no longer be available.
